The 5 C’s of teamwork

There are many companies that are encouraging these behaviours among their employees. And it is that the experts assure that the implementation of these five concepts has many advantages for both companies and their workers.

Among them, the significant improvement in the quality of work and customer service stands out. In addition, employees become more involved in their work, have better results both at work and as a team, and the common goal is easier to achieve. Other factors to highlight are the reduction of conflicts and work absenteeism and the fact that learning and the exchange of information are favoured.

We analyze the 5 C’s: Communication, coordination, complementarity, trust and commitment.

1. Communication

Without a doubt, communication is one of the pillars of teamwork. And it is for a group of people to carry out their work correctly and efficiently. In a good work environment, all members must have all the necessary information to develop it.

For this reason, you have to forget ambiguities in work teams. The information channels and the procedures to provide all colleagues must be evident so that there are clear understandings and that a single person can carry out their work appropriately because they need to have all the clear indications.

Leaders need to be as transparent as possible with their team and keep them informed of changes that may affect them at all times. When someone discovers something new regarding their work or objectives through third parties, it can generate conflict and mistrust.

2. Coordination

The figure of the leader must be present in every work team. This figure is the one who is in charge of coordinating the tasks and the members, getting to know each of them in depth to assign the jobs to the people who are best prepared for each point.

The leader must be accessible to team members and have flexibility in coordinating positively. In this way, the best results for each individual will be obtained.

3. Complementarity

In the previous point, we discussed the leader and his role when coordinating the team members and choosing the best prepared for each task. Well, complementarity is having people in the team with particular knowledge and skills to respond to customer needs globally.

The training and experience, both personally and professionally, of each member will enrich the results of everyday work.

Therefore, and whenever possible, it is essential to form teams in which their members complement each other. Knowing each person beforehand favours the coordination of tasks. It is an excellent option to bet on the creation of teams of people with different profiles, even if the coordination is more complex since, in this way, the results will be enriched.

4. Trust

To facilitate agility at work, building trust in the team is necessary. And also win it. Transparent communication, or when members get to know each other, is essential to create that perfect environment.

It is also important to continue generating it day by day. Therefore, the leader must clearly and concisely explain the project to the team, the tasks each person will carry out, and the final objective to achieve.

5. Commitment

If the above points are made efficiently, the team members’ commitment will grow. As has already been pointed out, the leader must ensure that each person knows their work and shared objectives, thus increasing the motivation of all the components. The commitment must be with work, with colleagues and with the company.

As can be seen, the 5 C’s of teamwork are essential for optimal results. It is about valuing each member’s talent for the final objective’s positive achievement. If these concepts are considered, it is easier for the team to function as it should.
