5 Common Laptop Problems and How to Fix Them

The laptop has become an indispensable tool. And like any technological tool, it can give us problems at the most inopportune moment.

Let’s look at five common laptop problems and how to fix them.

A cracked or cracked screen: If you can read this, your screen probably isn’t cracked or broken (or you’re using your phone!). But the level of difficulty in repairing it yourself is high. Fixing a cracked screen is usually cheaper than a new laptop, so take it to a professional computer repair service; it will cost you less than having to change laptops.

Your battery is no longer charging: Not holding a charge could mean one of two things: your battery is dead, or your charger is faulty. Batteries deplete over time due to use. Especially if you are guilty of leaving it plugged into the mains all the time. Replacing a battery in an old laptop is a simple process and only requires a screwdriver and a replacement battery.

However, like modern smartphones, newer laptops often don’t have access to a storm. Therefore, you will have to connect it to the mains all the time or take it to an authorized repair shop.

Something is wrong with the keyboard: Keyboard issues include keys sticking or not registering keystrokes. If you press “A” and nothing happens, dirt is probably underneath. There are some methods you can try. First, try cleaning the keyboard with a can of compressed air to remove any stuck-on particles.

You can also open the bottom panel on a laptop with a removable case. From here, you can draw whatever is under the keyboard. Again, you may need a maintenance specialist for more complex computer cases.

The laptop is very slow: Slow problems with notebooks are one of the most common causes of frustration when working with them. The first thing you need to do is make sure everything else is working. Check if the RAM is total by opening Task Manager and checking the Memory tab. Also, make sure the hard drive is not too entire as well. Again, use Task Manager to find where the space is being used.

No Power: If none of the above works, then it could be that the motherboard is faulty. Many people who buy new laptops have had to replace them over the years. That’s due to overuse or issues like overheating. To check if this is the case, plug your computer into a power outlet and see if it turns on. If not, and you haven’t backed up your data, you’ll need to visit a professional for help.

Fix Your Laptop Problems and Save Money

You can consider buying a second-hand laptop if you want to save money. You won’t get the latest model, but you know it will work fine (at least for a while). And if you want the highest quality, you can always look for refurbished models.

However, suppose you want to troubleshoot your laptop yourself. Make sure you find some excellent instructional videos on YouTube, get the necessary tools, and get on with it.
